This is a celebration post. I’m marking a milestone of 500 likes on my fb page, and over 2000 hits on my site! To mark this occasion I am doing my very first giveaway. This is no ordinary food giveaway, we are talking jewelry!!! And not just any jewelry, but Lu!! What is Lu, you may ask, well Lu is not a what, but a who. She is a extremely talented designer and creator of her very own line of handmade jewelry. She now has a storefront here in Leavenworth, Kansas, but when I first met Lu she was selling at home parties and out of her tiny quarters on Ft. Leavenworth. Now she is selling on-line and has Lu reps all over the country!!! If you are not familiar with her, please go check out her site at www.artisticworksbylu.com, or her fb page at facebook.com/artisticworksbylu . Well it pays to have friends in high places, because when I told Lu I wanted to have my first giveaway at the 500 mark she, without missing a bea,t provided me with this lovely necklace and earring set from her newest line!!
So in honor of Lu I am posting a dessert that when I was a baker I provided her store for many an open house and holiday celebration, it was one of Lu’s favorites and her customers too! As luck has it, it happens to match the pearl jewelry nicely
! So here is the recipe and keep scrolling at the end you will find all the ways you can get entered to win this amazing jewelry!
This recipe comes from the Betty Crocker website, I found it in one of there seasonal magazines and made it and immediately fell in love, it is easy and very impressive for parties and celebrations! Lu always likes to serve them with a little bubbly!
Ingredients:
1 pouch sugar cookie mix( 1 lb 1.5oz) – I just used a recipe for sugar cookies and just added the dry ingredients.
1 box – small, french vanilla instant pudding mix
2 Tbs. brown sugar
1/2 cup butter melted
2 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs plus 3 egg yolks
2 pkg cream cheese (80z each) softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup toffee bits -finely crushed
Preparation:
* Heat oven to 350 degrees, prepare your 9x 13 pan, I used a shallow 9×13 baking sheet, lightly sprayed with cooking spray lined with foil and sprayed the foil. Trust me on this, makes it way easier to get the bars out of the pan and make nice clean cuts to serve!
* In a large bowl, or your stand mixer ,stir your cookie mix, pudding mix, brown sugar, melted butter, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 whole egg until soft dough forms. Press dough in bottom and 1/2 in. up sides of pan.
* In same bowl beat cream cheese, sour cream, and sugar until smooth. Add the remaining whole egg and the egg yolks as well as the remaining vanilla, beat until smooth. Spread over the crust.
* Bake 30-35min. or until set in the center. Immediately sprinkle the top with the toffee bits. Cool on the counter for 30 minutes. Refrigerate about 3 hours or until chilled. When completely chilled remove from pan and cut into desired size pieces. Enjoy! Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
I cut them into bite size pieces as they are very rich. I put them in mini cupcake liners when entertaining and place them on a tray.

I have no GO To jewelry. I never ever ever buy anything for myself, so I just simply have no jewelry. I would like a pair of diamond studs to just always wear. I used to have a gorgeous amethyst necklace but it broke and the beads went everywhere, so there was no fixing it.
My favorite piece is my engagement ring, dating back to the Civil War on my husband’s side of the family!
I like both pages on Facebook under the FB name Angela Alpaugh. Congrats on 500 and counting!
No finer jewelry than the wedding ring I’ve worn for 36 yrs.
Hello My Prairie Window, I Love Love Love Your blog!! It helps to make My morning and these bars look Delish!! MY Favorite Piece of Jewelry is a string of Pearls that My husband got me for our First Christmas, He had the Angel on the tree wearing it!! Please keep doing what You are doing!!
I love earrings and wear them almost everyday. Go big or go home is my feeling and I have a great pair of Lu’s silver earrings that are my go to pair.
I have some Lu and I love every piece! I have one from her Naught Naturals line that is my fav! I also LOVE cheesecake and this recipe I will have to try!
Hi Keira,
My favorite pieces of jewelry are actually Lu’s necklace and bracelet set that I bought years ago when we lived in Leavenworth. It has purples and greens and pinks and it goes with everything. My newest favorite piece is the one I just got for my Birthday from dear friend – it is sooo me! It is a turquoise bracelet that has brown, perl and crystal accents. Love it! I hope I win!!!
This sounds delicious! Cannot wait to try it. I have to buy pieces that go with everything, so my favorite LU piece is my long champagne rosary that I can wear long or doubled up. I can wear it with my other LU pieces or with other stuff (chains, etc) and did I say it is blingy….Love it!
My sterling silver ball earrings.
Hi,
Lu’s is my favorite store of all time! Her jewelry is amazing. Her necklaces are my go to pieces. My outfits revolve around the jewelry. I think I had these cheesecake bars at her fall party and loved them! So happy to have the recipe. Thank you. I tried to like your FB page, but it wasn’t working. I will try again later.

I had not ever heard of Lu until I was on on My Prairie’s page. Glad to have found it. But I have 2 pieces that I always rely on and that is a soft water pearl ring that goes with everything and the other is my silver hoops. I can never go wrong with either. Look forward to trying the Creme Brulee Cheesecake bars sunday for the fathers day grilling we’re haveing and look forward to some shopping at Lu’s really liked what I’ve seen so far!
Oh! Glad you noted that I had to comment. I was familiar with Lu (I have one of her necklaces, but not with you, so I look forward to hearing more! The bars look amazing!
I liked both the web pages….look fun! My go-to favorite jewelery would be my diamond earrings…they aren’t big, but I love them!
Congratulations!!! My favorite piece of jewelry to wear is my grandmother’s diamond ring! It goes well with everything and she is always with me!
Outside of my wedding ring and engagement band I have a pair of pearl stud earrings that have a tiny sapphire that is next to them. I am a September girl and my husband is a June guy so it represents both our birthdays. my engagement ring is with the main stone of sapphire because of September.
My silver drop earrings are my everyday wear. I have had them for about 6 years! Will have to try that yummy looking dessert!
YUMMMM!! Think I’ll be baking this weekend. My favorite piece of jewelry is my Trollbeads bracelet. Wear it all the time – might forget to put on my wedding ring after making bread, but not my bracelet!
My go to piece of jewelry is a Lu choker that my mother gave me with three strands.
